Resolutions & Resolve : Ngan | eNVe Designs

Hi fellow Lillyella readers! It’s Ngan from eNVe Designs filling in for our favorite busy bee, Nicole. As the year winds down and 2010 is peeking around the corner, I can’t help but reflect on new resolutions and what this year has meant to me personally. It’s definitely been a year of big changes. My husband and I had a beautiful baby girl, we moved half way across the country, and our son just entered his terrible-two’s. This year has also been a tough one for our family including several lay offs and the loss of my uncle to cancer. Through this year’s undulations, continuously present at the top of the climbs and at the bottom of the falls, were the valuable connections that were forged and deepened. It is these connections…to our family, friends, neighbors…to our spirituality…to our creativity, our art…and to our true selves…that I am eternally grateful for and hope to build upon in the new year.

One of the many blessings I’m counting this year is the wonderful Etsy Project Embrace team, whose members are some of the most warm and supportive people I’ve had the pleasure of “meeting” through Etsy. So I’d like to take a minute to highlight some new years resolutions from a few members of the Etsy Project Embrace Team.

Cheers to all, to a bright year ahead!

Laura of lauraslocumpainted
Since I spent HOURS going thru my etsy shops and "re-tooling" today, I'm thinking that I'd like to make a resolution to list items on Etsy in half the time! ...to continue to keep cheetos on any diet I may have to be on. ....to get thru chemo with "flying colors" in 2010, then say goodbye to it FOREVER.

Kerrin of Sigmosaics
Creating a positive and healthy environment for my children in our new home of New Zealand. After all the settling in bits are finished I will be concentrating on Sigmosaics and building up my shop… catching up on all those much neglected extras (blogs!!) that go with having an online presence and enhancing any and all skills related to my shop, in stock and also in customer service!

Karon of WildWomanJewelry
One of my resolutions is to get a little more exercise (shocking, I know!) but I spend way too much time sitting, at my workbench and on the computer! I also intend to get my paperwork in order for 2010 — a better, more detailed filing system and record keeping for sales and expenses. And lastly, I intend to have a little more 'sacred inactivity' built into my week, a little regular time to be a bit of a 'turnip'- slow down and and let the creative juices flow!

Brenda of Phydeaux
Continue my quest to decrease major stress in my life (it's been an annual one for several years - 2010 might be the first successful year!). Start writing fiction again! Get a contract for a book for knitting patterns. Eat a salad every day (I'm already planning the blog with recipes!). Last, but by no means least, after several years of extreme stress, learn to find and embrace joy in everything I do. :)

Jenn of jennreese7
I resolve to shed a chin this year. My kid is almost 7 months old — No excuses for me!

Jill of moonlightbeadworks
Besides the usual, spend more time with family and friends, help others more, get more exercise, pay off debt. I really need to work on the following: Find, charge and use my cell phone since I am paying for it. Pick up the house phone when it rings, instead of letting the answering machine come on. Listen to the voice mails left by those who could not reach me. Return calls promptly.

Jill of GlazedOver
There are so many ways in which I aspire to improve my character, to be a better mother, wife, artist, global citizen, etc. but I'd say my resolutions all boil down to one main one: to be a better listener. If I can accomplish that, all the other little duckies will line up quite nicely.

Rose of Waterrose
My resolution is to make better use of time. I plan to start a new line of creations, revamp my blog, and learn a new embroidery technique ... that takes care of the first six months!

Susan of Simplysuzula
Think before I speak… my mouth needs reining in. Work harder to support Etsy Project Embrace by adding more TEAMEPE items. Put more emphasis on others and less on myself. Start eating healthier and excercising more. Treat others the way I want to be treated and be more tolerant of others.

Charity of SewCharitable
Embroider more each weekend. It makes me happy because it is creative and I can generate items and patterns for my shop! Focus on my wedding in October by buying independently and locally from Etsy vendors. Take time each day to snuggle with my fiance and kitties.

Teresa of tmpenrose
Stay more on top of the financial (i.e., tax info) end of the business. Go to boutiques in my area and see if they will do consignment.

Kelly of sweetnessjewelry
Just making it through the next year, Read more, and make more jewelry and put it on etsy!!!

Jen of NimiJewelry
On the personal side, my resolution is to relax. I want to let go of my automatic impulse to feel guilty and assume responsibility for anything that goes wrong in the lives of my loved ones –and especially people I don't know. It will take a bit (ok a lot!) of work, but I'm going to try to become what my friend calls "Zen Jen." I will take a deep breath, step back and relaaax. Professionally, I want to get my jewelry business up and off the ground. I want to start getting some serious sales on Etsy and I want to get my pieces into boutiques in the area.

Kristin of loveartworks
To take my life on a daily basis and remember that I have no control over 99% of what goes on around me. The 1% I do have a say in, I want to be mindful, positive and I want to do the action steps needed on my part to create my day and then let go and see what happens. To live each day in the present, not dwell in past good or bad things, not spend time in the future. Where are my feet? They are right here, right now!

Thank you Nicole and Ngan for featuring us. That is so nice. I really enjoyed reading everyone's resolutions. I sure hope Kelly gets through the rest of 8th grade okay and I also hope Laura finds Etsyhacks in the new year. As for me, along with dropping my remaining 10 lbs of pregnancy weight, I am going to try to be not so particular in the way that the dishwasher is loaded in 2010. Happy New Year everyone!
