Welcome to the debut of a new series here on the blog, Etsy Pets! I've previously introduced you to a few of my 'family members' (with many more to come…) and now it's time to meet the furry, finned and feathered friends who help out, or wreak havoc, behind the scenes of some other Etsy shops.
First up, a spider hunting, sunbathing Siamese who's great with a sewing machine and is a strong advocate for naptime…

Name: Peyton
Owner: Wendy of Buttercupbloom
Nicknames: Peyton Pea, PayPay, Peeeeton, Nutter-Butt, Mr. Nuggets, or Lil'/Baby Beans. Even though Peyton's fixed, he's got the world's cutest black beans!
Breed: Peyton is a Sealpoint Siamese cat but not a purebred. He's a bit of a mutt, see how chubby he is? Most purebred Siamese are slender.
Age: Peyton's birthday is Valentines Day - and he's 2 years old!
Acquired: We adopted Peyton in May of 2008 from the Pacific Siamese Rescue (PSR) group where we also adopted his sister, Iris, and our lives have been brighter ever since. They are an incredible organization and we are so indebted to them for making our family more complete with our beloved furbabies. They have locations all over the US - so if you love Siamese like we do, please look them up! http://cn.siameserescue.org.

Favorite Activities: Snoozing. Peyton just loves a good snooze in the warmest of sunbeams. He is a crunchy mylar ball enthusiast and will spend hours chasing one as long as he has a fun-loving human with whom to play fetch. Peyton Love-Love-Loves to eat and to show everyone just how good he is at crunching. Peyton adores cuddling with just about anyone, especially when it is chilly outside. A treasure hunter at heart, Peyton also spends a lot of time looking high and low for tiny spiders. He chatters at and scolds them as they are much faster than he.
Where do you and Peyton call home?
San Francisco, Bay Area - California
San Francisco, Bay Area - California
Tell us about your shop, Buttercupbloom
It's become a mission of sorts for me to salvage and transform otherwise cast away items into unique, functional, fresh bits of art and whimsy. I make cuddily, charming plush creatures with a purpose - to make the world a more Eco Friendly place. My creations are handcrafted from remnants of former projects, felted sweaters, thrifted and recycled fabric and buttons.
If Peyton could help with your shop, what would he be good at:
If Peyton had the capability of doing so, he would be a master sewing machine threader for sure. He's a big fan of the stringy stuff and just loves the sound of a bobbin getting wound. Peyton's also a strong advocate for remembering to take breaks, naps and nibble on snacks throughout the day.
What is the best thing about being a pet parent?
Coming home after a long day at work to the unconditional love of my furbabies. They don't need or want anything more from me than love, kisses... and tasty kibbles.
If you were an animal, what kind would you be?
Probably a cat, but maybe a sea otter. Or a giraffe. Or a hummingbird.

If you could have any exotic animal for a pet, what would it be?
I think that a lot of exotic animal pets should be left to their natural habitats, to be honest. I'll continue to kick it old school and live quite content with my domesticated cats. Meow.
You can learn more about Wendy and keep up with Buttercupbloom happenings by visiting her blog and following her on twitter.
Want to support two worthy causes at once? Here's how you can!
Between now and next Wednesday, March 24, Wendy will donate $10 for every sale she receives, no matter how big or small, to the Pacific Siamese Rescue! With Easter right around the corner, who wouldn't love a sweet, eco-friendly plushie bunny in their basket?
Thanks so much, Wendy!
