Spotlight: Petit and Cute Design

We're crossing International borders once again in today's Spotlight as we travel to Turkey and meet Sabahnur of Petit and Cute Design. What started as a love of japanese craft books and a hobby of crocheting for her daughter has since turned into a successful business venture. With Easter right around the corner, I just couldn't resist sharing her cute and cuddly creations which are perfect for any basket or egg hunt!

Where did you grow up and where do you currently live?
Hello I am Sabahnur. I was born in Istanbul and still living here.

How long have you been selling on Etsy?
It has been two years of being an Etsy member but I have been selling for about one and a half years.

Do you sell on Etsy full time or do you have a day job?
I am a stay at home mom. I quit my job when my daughter was born and do not think to go back to work life, so I am a full time Etsian :)

What made you decide to open up shop on Etsy?
I am totally in love with japanese craft boks. When I met the amigurumi toys, I began to crochet for my daughter. Then I couldnt help myself to stop, crochet and crochet and crochet... then begin to sell that huge stock!

Where did your shop name come from?
It comes from my creatures shape, they are petit and totally cute :)

Do you have any advice for other sellers on Etsy or those thinking about pursuing their craft?
They should believe in their creativity and focus on only their job, not anyone else’s sales or shop. Work hard and try to improve yourself.

Are there any challenges being an International seller on an American based site?
Sure, my language. My English is not perfect but getting better everyday. Also shipping, I ship my orders next day after purchase, but it takes a looong time to arrive in the USA.

What is the strangest thing that has ever happened to you?
Before getting married, I was working in a full time job. One day I saw my boss in my dream, he was very happy because his wife was pregnant with twins. At that time they did not have children, they were going to the doctor and working on it. Next day, I talked about the dream to my boss and he was shocked because before me his wife called and told thim that she is pregnant :)

Share some of your favorite music
Ohh very mixed taste i have... Coldplay, alanis morisette, andrea boccelli, yani, metallica :)

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?
Charlize theron.. she is beautiful :)

What would you like to learn to do?
I would like to learn making wood toys and decoration objects, and also ceramic and glass are attactive for me.

What does the future hold for you and your shop?
This is my full time job but first of all it is my hobby. In the future I am wishing to be the best selling crocheter :)
