Etsy Pets: Wilson

Name: Wilson
Owner: Brie of Theurchiness

Nicknames: Willie, Klutzy

Breed: Domestic Short Hair Tabby

Age: Less than a year old

Acquired: I spend a lot of my free time volunteering for a wonderful local rescue named Tailchaser Rescue and our house is often over run with litters of kittens and puppies, or adult kitties all in transition. We foster pets until they are adopted into a forever home, and in the process of acquiring new fosters, Wilson came to live with us a few moths ago. It took me all of ten minutes to decide that he was the kitty for me!

Favorite Activities: Wilson spends a lot of time chasing our dogs around, unraveling skeins of yarn, stealing hair clips, and chattering to the birds outside his favorite window. He's also a big fan of 'cuddle time' and stealing my seat when I get up.

Where do you and Wilson call home?
We (my boyfriend and I and our zoo of animals) live in Santa Cruz County in a little town called Felton. We're about 10 minutes out of Santa Cruz and into the mountains. We have an incredible view of the forest and are only a few minutes drive away from the beach. Our home is small but cozy and full of life!

Tell us about your shop, Theurchiness
Currently I'm operating theurchiness.etsy.com where I supply fiber artists with their new favorite handspun yarn (or the supplies to spin it themselves)! I'm working on a new project to include a wider variety of supplies and fibery goodness, but in the meantime I'm having a blast surrounding myself with wool and meeting other fiber artists.

If Wilson could help with your shop, what would he be good at?
Packaging, most definitely!

Do you have any other pets?
Boy do we ever. Besides the fosters that are always running around we have two permanent dogs and two (plus Wilson, so three) permanent kitties. First we have Mops, my darling little Lhasa Apso pup with only one eye, then my boyfriend's dog Huckleberry, a hound mix with the sweetest face you'll ever see. Then we have Stuart Mac Daddy, a long haired black and white kitty with a penchant for tuna casserole and Secret Agent Geoffrey Weston (code name "Sneaks") who is plotting an escape scheduled for every time we open the screen door.

What is the best thing about being a pet parent?
Most definitely the amount of cuddles I get from my pets. And they always seem to know when I need a little cheering up and are there with a lick or head butt of love.

If you were an animal, what kind would you be?
Definitely a crow. Innovative, free, a little bossy, and ready to take on the world!

If you could have any exotic animal for a pet, what would it be?
After spending so much time working in the veterinary field, with rescues, and volunteering for wildlife centers, I think wild animals should remain wild. Of course if we're speaking purely dreamworld, I'd have to say a lion that likes to cuddle.
