Today’s focus is on the home library. A room I dream about one day having. I would love to have an entire room dedicated to my love of books. Complete with floor to ceiling shelves, a rolling ladder, a long worn table with reading lamps set one after the other among stacks of books, a large comfy chair, fireplace, large windows…the list goes on. Believe me; I have a vision of my perfect library. If I had that perfect library, I probably would be hard-pressed to get any work done!

We all can have a home library, you know. Even if it’s a shelf snuggled into one corner with a chair, side table and reading lamp, wedged under an open staircase, or included in a room used for more than one purpose such as a dining room, or even nestled in a hallway. It’s an achievable goal for all of us. That makes me happy to think about…every home with its own little reading sanctuary….

I found the above wonderful examples of home libraries whilst browsing the web (Click each photo for the source and more inspiration). They are different in style, but all achieve the same end result. I hope they inspire you. Perhaps you’re like me with books here and there in many rooms, a bookcase here, a stack there, but you wish for them to all be together in a designated area. You may feel there’s no one good spot for all of them together. I believe if one takes the time to really look at one’s space, the exactly right area will come to light for the ideal home library. It may require some furniture moving or rethinking a space, but that’s half the fun of it.

This photo of author Neil Gaiman’s library is one of my all-time favorites.
Thank you so much for visiting. I truly hope this post inspired you, and I’ll see you next month!
Happy reading…. xo Dennice

My dream home would have a library. Even if it was small, to be surrounded by books would be magical.
