Succulents are for Everyone

Hello, lovely readers! Dennice of Fringe here with this month’s décor feature. As always, I’m honored to be a guest on the wonderful Lillyella blog, run smoothly by the beautiful Nicole. Thank you so much, Nicole, for allowing me to do this monthly post. It’s a real treat!

This month’s focus is the succulent. Succulents are all the rage these days. It’s no wonder. They’re affordable, easy to care for, eco-friendly, can be grown indoors or outdoors and importantly for this post, they add a great deal of interest to any home’s décor.

There are many types of succulents to choose from. They vary in size, shape and shades of green. Some have pink tints, some have red edging. They can look like roses, cabbages, peas, and even a bit like an alien life form…

Personally, I adore them. They grow beautifully for me, and believe me, friends, I’m not the most successful gardener. I have them indoors as well as outdoors. Here are two examples…

My outdoor hanging basket (which I purchased at Home Depot for under $25)

On my coffee table. This little succulent garden sits in an old drawer purchased for $3.

Succulents are very versatile. They can be used as a small, elegant vignette on a stack of books.

Or on wedding tables.

They’re equally stunning in large quantities.

You won’t find anything more elegant than this.

I hope this post has inspired you to bring some succulents into your life. They are most rewarding. Even for the unskilled gardener and with very little effort, these plants will breathe life into any space, indoors or outdoors.

There are many helpful online sources that will explain how to care for succulents, such as this eHow page.

Thank you so much for visiting, friends! I look forward to our next time together. Until then… Happy gardening! xo Dennice

It's amazing how you can get such a nice basket from a box store - how could you compete with that?

Drought Smart Plants - You're so right. To make your own, you would spend quite a bit more. However, the good thing about making your own is you can customize it.

Thank you for your comment! :)

Kristina - Thank you for the comment. I am in love with Katie's work. It's exceptional.

Nicole - Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a wall of succulents like that? There's a restaurant here that has something similar on their patio. It's beautiful.
