Etsy Pets: Olivia

Name: Olivia
Owner: Suzanne of Tanner Glass

Nicknames: Livie, Livs, Livie-Lou, Boo, Pretty Girl.

Breed: Lab/pit mix, with a little something extra. Not quite sure what it is!

Age: Seven

Favorite activities: In no particular order…..digging through the recycling, digging through the trash, walks, eating Kami’s food (the neighbors dog), trying to steal Devin’s binky (the neighbors son), runs on the beach, runs in the woods, 2 Paws Up (doggy daycare).

Acquired: I adopted Olivia from a local shelter almost 6 years ago. It was a bit serendipitous, as I went to the shelter on a whim, not expecting to see Olivia (she wasn’t listed on Petfinder).

If Olivia could help with your shop, what would her job be?
She would be the task master, no doubt about it. Things would get done in a timely manner, so that she could go for a loooooong walk. In fact, frequent breaks to take walks would be a priority. There is so much to sniff in this world, and so little time.

Tell us about your shop
I started Tanner Glass about 11 years ago, but it was only 3-4 years ago that I added the magnets and hooks, which have quickly become my best sellers. I’m certain that the Pet themed items wouldn’t exist if I didn’t adopt Olivia. She required some rather expensive Vet visits in the first few years, and after one visit in particular, I looked at her and said “you need to start earning your keep.”

I always created FUNctional Objects (fun AND functional), with a heavy emphasis on items that I would use everyday, so it wasn’t a huge stretch to branch into the Pet market.

Where do you and Olivia call home?
Cranston, Rhode Island

What animal does your personality most resemble and why?
Tough one! I was really fortunate to spend a couple weeks in South Africa last year, and went on a number of Safari’s. I found myself most drawn to the elephants….they are resourceful, loyal, and dedicated.

What is the best thing about being a pet parent?
The daily dose of love! And this is so cliché, but, seriously, it’s important to stop and smell the roses (or in Olivia’s case, the stop and smell everything).
